The Rajasthan government, led by Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, has announced significant changes to benefit state employees, including an increase in gratuity and family pension. In a recent cabinet meeting, it was decided to raise the maximum limit for state employees' gratuity and death gratuity from Rs 20 lakh to Rs 25 lakh. This decision reflects the government's commitment to improving the welfare of its employees.
Deputy Chief Minister Premchand Bairwa, along with Parliamentary Affairs Minister Jogaram Patel, shared details of these decisions during a press conference on Wednesday. Bairwa emphasised that the increase in gratuity and death gratuity is a significant step towards supporting state employees and their families.
In addition to the gratuity increase, the cabinet has approved a proposal to extend the benefits of the Rajasthan Government Health Scheme (RGHS). Under this new provision, state employees will have the option to include either their parents or in-laws in the health scheme, provided they are dependent and living with them.
This change aligns with the Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) and aims to provide broader medical coverage for state employees and their families. To implement this, an amendment will be made to Rule 3(9) of the Rajasthan Civil Services (Medical Care) Rules, 2013, as part of the 2024-25 budget announcements.
Another key decision made during the cabinet meeting pertains to family pensions. The Rajasthan government has decided that, in the event of a state employee's death while in service, the dependent family members will receive an enhanced family pension for 10 years.
This provision mirrors the benefits provided to central government employees. The necessary amendments to Rules 55 and 62 of the Rajasthan Civil Services (Pension) Rules, 1996, will take effect from April 1, 2024.
The cabinet also addressed issues related to promotions within the judiciary. Amendments were approved to various rules governing the promotion of clerical staff, drivers, and Class IV employees in the district and subordinate courts.
These changes will provide relief to those employees who were previously ineligible for promotions due to having more than two children. The amendments will allow their promotions to be considered from the date they became due, with the provision of notional pay increments.
In addition to these employee-focused decisions, the cabinet also approved measures to enhance the state's infrastructure. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Jogaram Patel announced that the government is working to strengthen the rail transport system in Rajasthan.
A new railway line connecting Shri Nathdwara to Mewar and Marwar is being developed in collaboration with the Central Government. To facilitate this project, the cabinet approved the allocation of 42.1576 hectares of land in Rajsamand district to the Railway Ministry for the Nathdwara-Deogarh-Madaria gauge conversion project.
