After an intense debate in the Lok Sabha, the Rajya Sabha is now set to hold a 16-hour discussion on Operation Sindoor on Tuesday, 29 July. Operation Sindoor was India’s military response to the terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam, in which 26 people were killed.
During the Lok Sabha session on Operation Sindoor, the Indian Army announced the launch of Operation Mahadev, under which three terrorists affiliated with the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba were “neutralised” in an intense firefight.
On Day Six of the Parliament Session, the Rajya Sabha functioned for barely five minutes due to repeated adjournments caused by uproar from the opposition benches.
The Upper House was adjourned twice as opposition members staged protests over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar, demanding a debate on the issue.
Both Houses of Parliament — the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha — are set to resume proceedings on Tuesday at 11am.
