On Tuesday, Opposition INDIA bloc MPs gave notice to bring no-confidence motion against Dhankhar, accusing him of “partisan” conduct in the Upper House.

Rajya Sabha has been adjourned till 12 pm on Wednesday shortly after House proceedings, after Opposition created ruckus seeking removal of Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar.

On Tuesday, Opposition INDIA bloc MPs gave notice to bring no-confidence motion against Dhankhar, accusing him of “partisan” conduct in the Upper House. The notice has sparked a political row with both the Opposition and the Centre standing firm on their positions.

While the Bharatiya Janata Party slammed the Congress for “colluding” with “anti-India” forces backed by US investor George Soros, the Congress hit back accusing it of raising the issue only to protect industrialist Gautam Adani.

The Opposition party asked that if Soros was involved in anti-national activities, why was his business still running in India and why had the government not sought his extradition. Before that, the Bharatiya Janata Party alleged that Sonia Gandhi, as the co-president of the Forum of Democratic Leaders in the Asia-Pacific (FDL-AP), was linked to an organisation funded by “George Soros Foundation” which backed the idea of independence for Kashmir.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah is likely to move the motion for election of member to the committee on Official Language in Rajya Sabha. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is scheduled to move the Banking Laws (Amendment) Bill 2024.

The Carriage of Goods by Sea Bill 2024 is likely to be taken for consideration and passing in Lok Sabha.
