Atishi Still Awaiting CM Residence After Kejriwal's Exit.

Sanjay Singh, a prominent leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), has raised concerns about possible foul play in the allocation of the Chief Minister's residence in Delhi.

The residence was vacated by former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on October 4, but it has not yet been handed over to the newly appointed Chief Minister, Atishi. Singh questioned the delay and suggested that it might indicate political manoeuvring by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Singh stated that the BJP has a history of using underhanded tactics when they cannot win elections outright. He emphasised that there is clear evidence that Kejriwal has vacated the residence, and as the new Chief Minister, Atishi should have already moved in. Singh noted that Atishi has even held meetings with the staff of the Chief Minister’s residence in a temporary office, which has since also been vacated.

In addition to this issue, Singh expressed his disappointment with the Congress party, criticising their lack of confidence in forming an alliance with AAP for the upcoming Haryana elections.

He highlighted that the INDIA alliance had performed well in the Lok Sabha elections, securing 47 percent of the votes in Haryana. Despite this, Singh noted that Congress leaders have been hesitant to collaborate, making divisive statements instead. He pointed out that while the Congress was expected to lead in forming a government, their refusal to align with AAP shows a lack of faith in the party's influence.

The recent Haryana assembly election results have added to the political tension. The BJP has successfully secured a third consecutive term by winning 48 out of the 90 seats in the assembly, while Congress managed to win only 37 seats. Singh’s remarks reflect a broader concern about the Congress party’s approach and its implications for future elections.

In the wake of these developments, AAP’s National Convenor, Arvind Kejriwal, shared his reflections on the Haryana election results. He emphasised the importance of humility, stating that the key takeaway from the elections is the need to avoid overconfidence. Kejriwal called upon party workers to intensify their efforts in preparation for the upcoming Delhi assembly elections, which are expected to take place next year.

On the same note, AAP’s National spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar announced that the party would contest the Delhi assembly elections independently. Kakkar criticised both the Congress and the BJP, describing Congress as overconfident and the BJP as arrogant. She asserted that AAP would focus on showcasing their achievements over the last ten years, rather than seeking alliances.

The upcoming assembly elections in Delhi, anticipated in early 2025, will be crucial for AAP. In the previous 2020 assembly elections, AAP won a significant majority, capturing 62 out of 70 seats, while the BJP secured only eight. This strong performance sets a high bar for AAP as they prepare for the next election cycle.

As the political landscape continues to evolve, Singh’s allegations and Kakkar’s declaration reflect the AAP’s commitment to standing firm in their campaign, emphasising their past successes while navigating the challenges posed by rival parties.

The dynamics within the opposition, particularly concerning Congress’s hesitance to align with AAP, will undoubtedly play a significant role in shaping the narrative leading up to the elections.
