Muda scam: Complaint against Siddaramaiah for tampering evidence

Siddaramaiah accused of tampering Muda site evidence

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is facing fresh allegations of destroying evidence related to alleged irregularities in the allotment of 14 sites to his wife, Parvathi, by the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA).

The complaint also implicates his son, Yathindra Siddaramaiah, as a partner in these irregularities. This comes just days after the Lokayukta police registered an FIR against Siddaramaiah, his wife, his brother-in-law Mallikarjuna Swamy, and Devaraju—an individual from whom Mallikarjuna Swamy purchased land that was later gifted to Parvathi.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has also initiated an Enforcement Case Information Report (ECIR) against Siddaramaiah, further intensifying the legal scrutiny.

The case revolves around the allotment of compensatory sites by MUDA under a 50:50 ratio scheme, which compensates landowners by allotting developed land in lieu of undeveloped land acquired by the authority for residential layouts.

However, it is alleged that Parvathi received 14 compensatory sites in a high-value area of Mysuru, significantly more valuable than the land she purportedly owned.

The controversy deepens with claims that Parvathi had no legal title over the 3.16 acres of land in question, located at survey number 464 of Kasare village, Mysuru taluk, which MUDA acquired for developing a residential layout.

These allegations raise concerns about land allotment practices and whether political influence was exerted in securing the high-value plots.

The case, now being investigated by the Lokayukta and ED, could have serious legal and political consequences for Siddaramaiah and his family. The outcome of these investigations will likely affect the Chief Minister's political standing, particularly if any criminal liability is established.
