Security forces on Sunday uncovered a well-constructed terrorist hideout within a civilian home in the Kulgam district.
The secret bunker, hidden inside a wardrobe, reportedly housed four terrorists who were killed in an encounter on Saturday night.
The encounter on Saturday lasted several hours, resulting in the deaths of six terrorists and two soldiers, including an elite para commando.
A video circulating online shows security officials inspecting the small, fortified concrete hideout behind the wardrobe in the civilian residence.
Authorities are now investigating possible local involvement in providing shelter to the terrorists.
Recently, J&K police announced they are considering invoking the Enemy Agents Ordinance 1948 against individuals found linked to or supporting foreign terrorists operating within J&K.
Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police RR Swain hailed the neutralisation of the terrorists as a significant achievement.
"This is undoubtedly a major milestone in strengthening the security environment," Swain said, adding, "These successes are meaningful both substantively and in terms of messaging.”
Swain highlighted that these successful operations signify progress in the fight against terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir.
"The involvement of people is leading to the flow of human intelligence, and this fight will be taken to its logical conclusion," he added.
These incidents have occurred during the ongoing Amarnath Yatra in South Kashmir, during a period when Jammu and Kashmir have seen an increase in terrorist attacks.
