As the Narendra Modi-led NDA government completed 11 years in office, BJP National President and Union Minister JP Nadda on Monday praised the government’s decisive actions in areas of national security, infrastructure development, and welfare schemes, attributing increased public participation to the people’s growing trust in Prime Minister Modi’s leadership.
Addressing a press conference, Nadda said that the Modi government has consistently taken bold steps to safeguard the nation and improve the lives of its citizens. He pointed out that India’s firm response to terror attacks under Modi’s leadership demonstrated a clear shift in national policy and resolve.
“Prime Minister Modi has faced every challenge head-on,” Nadda stated. “After the Uri terror attack, for the first time, PM Modi declared openly that the sacrifice of our soldiers would not go in vain. Shortly after, surgical strikes were carried out across the border. Again, after the Pulwama attack, PM Modi sent a strong message to the enemies of the nation—saying they had made a grave mistake. In Bihar, he boldly declared that terrorists would be punished beyond their imagination. That promise was fulfilled through Operation Sindoor, where terrorist camps were destroyed. The results are clear.”
Nadda highlighted significant progress in internal security, especially in the fight against Naxalism. He noted that the number of districts affected by Left-Wing Extremism (LWE) had dropped drastically—from 126 to just 18—under the Modi government. “Top leaders of LWE have been eliminated. This government is committed to securing the nation,” he said.
He also drew attention to infrastructure improvements in strategically important border areas. “There was a time when a former Defence Minister once said that roads should not be built in border areas so that the enemy cannot reach us. Today, that mindset has completely changed. The Modi government has constructed over 8,000 kilometres of border roads, strengthening our national security and boosting development in remote regions,” he added.

Praising the government’s social welfare schemes, Nadda said initiatives like PM Awas Yojana, Ujjwala Yojana, Jal Jeevan Mission, Garib Kalyan Yojana, PM Kisan Samman Nidhi, and Ujala Yojana have significantly transformed lives. “Around 40 crore people have been covered under life and accident insurance schemes,” he noted.
Nadda emphasized that the people's faith in Modi's leadership has led to greater public engagement with government initiatives. Citing the 2016 demonetization decision as an example, he said, “Many political parties tried to incite the public. You may have forgotten, but I haven’t. Despite the hardship, the common man of India stood in long queues at banks and supported the decision. When there is trust in leadership, the people stand with it.”
He further highlighted successful implementation of key policies such as the National Education Policy (NEP) and the National Health Policy. “This is the same country where earlier education ministers couldn’t even sit together for a press conference. But today, the NEP was introduced after one of the most inclusive consultation processes in our history. The National Health Policy was implemented smoothly, without any confusion. And campaigns like Swachh Bharat have become some of the biggest public movements in independent India,” he said.
Narendra Modi was first sworn in as Prime Minister on May 26, 2014. He is currently serving his third consecutive term, having taken oath again on June 9 last year following the NDA’s victory in the general elections. To mark the completion of 11 years of the Modi government, the Union government also released a comprehensive e-book outlining achievements across various sectors since 2014.
