UP Sets Bold Export Growth Target for 2030.

The Uttar Pradesh government has set an ambitious target of tripling its exports by 2030, viewing the ongoing tariff war between the United States and China as an opportunity to strengthen its position, according to an official statement issued on Saturday.

With the global economic standoff between the two superpowers continuing, the Yogi Adityanath-led government is seeking to turn the situation into an advantage for the state.

The statement highlighted that, while the standoff presents broader opportunities for India as a whole, Uttar Pradesh, with its improved law and order situation, world-class infrastructure, and abundant skilled workforce, is positioning itself as an attractive destination for investors.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has frequently praised the success of the One District One Product (ODOP) scheme at public events, noting that since its launch, the state's exports have increased from ₹88,967 crore to over ₹2 lakh crore.

The state government expressed optimism that infrastructure developments, such as new expressways, domestic and international airports, and inter-state waterways, along with the availability of low-cost labour and a thriving micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) sector, would further support businesses operating in Uttar Pradesh.

Officials said that Uttar Pradesh is emerging as a strong contender to attract businesses looking to shift their operations away from China. To build on this momentum, the government is working on a new export policy.

As part of this initiative, 'Invest UP' will be made more efficient and transparent to facilitate smoother investor engagement and drive foreign investment.

In a move to promote the branding of Uttar Pradesh’s products both within India and internationally, the state government organises the International Trade Show at the India Expo Centre and Mart in Greater Noida. This year’s event will be held from 25 to 27 September, with Vietnam as the partner country.

The trade show is expected to attract lakhs of visitors from India and 70 other countries, offering them a glimpse of 'Brand UP'.

To further boost the event’s impact, large-scale promotions are planned across key locations including Maharashtra, southern states, Delhi, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Indore, as well as major airports and railway stations.

Additionally, the upcoming export policy will introduce an Export Promotion Fund aimed at enhancing the global presence of Brand UP, the statement noted.

Uttar Pradesh currently leads India in leather and footwear exports, contributing 46 percent to the nation’s total exports in this sector.

To further strengthen its dominance, the government is preparing to introduce a dedicated Leather and Footwear Policy, making Uttar Pradesh the second state after Tamil Nadu to adopt such a strategy. This move is expected to particularly benefit regions like Kanpur, Unnao, and Agra.

The statement also pointed out that the ongoing US-China trade war could be a golden opportunity for India's MSME sector.

At present, China exports everyday goods worth USD 148 billion to the United States, holding a 72 percent market share, while India's share remains at just 2 percent. Many of these goods are produced in MSME units.
