Defence Minister Rajnath Singh Inaugurates 9 Key Projects In Uttarakhand.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday, after the inauguration of nine significant Border Roads Organisation (BRO) projects in the state.

The projects, which include the Karcha Bridge, Meeng Gadhera Bridge, Ghastoli Bridge, and Pagal Nala Bridge in the Garhwal region, along with the Shivalik Project Office and Residence in Dehradun district, are set to bring substantial benefits to the state, particularly its remote and underdeveloped areas.

The Chief Minister highlighted that these infrastructure projects would play a crucial role in enhancing connectivity and fostering socio-economic development. With the addition of the new bridges, travel time across the state will be significantly reduced.

This improvement in infrastructure is expected to promote not only religious tourism but also general tourism, making Uttarakhand a more attractive destination for visitors.

Additionally, the projects will help foster cultural exchanges and elevate the state's status as a key tourist hub in the country. Dhami emphasised that the projects will contribute to the sustainable development of the region and provide numerous employment opportunities.

By enhancing access to remote and border areas, these projects will not only strengthen the local economy but also support the establishment of vibrant village communities.

Improved connectivity to such areas is vital for their development, and these initiatives will pave the way for long-term prosperity in the region. Furthermore, the strategic importance of the projects was underlined by their potential to bolster India’s defence capabilities along its borders, a key consideration given Uttarakhand's proximity to important frontier regions.

The Uttarakhand CM added that the construction of these bridges and other infrastructure will bring a new phase of growth for the state, benefiting both locals and tourists.

The economic upliftment of previously isolated regions will also drive a shift towards modernization and sustainable progress, which is essential for the state's future development.

The ceremony in Uttarakhand was part of a larger national initiative, where Defence Minister Rajnath Singh virtually inaugurated 75 BRO projects across 11 states and Union Territories, with a total investment of Rs 2,236 crore.

These projects, which include 22 roads, 51 bridges, and two other critical infrastructure works, are spread across strategic areas like Jammu & Kashmir, Arunachal Pradesh, Ladakh, Sikkim, and more.

Nineteen of the projects are in Jammu & Kashmir, 18 in Arunachal Pradesh, 11 in Ladakh, and nine in Uttarakhand. The rest are distributed across other states, including Himachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Rajasthan, West Bengal, Nagaland, Mizoram, and the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh remarked that these infrastructure projects reflect the government’s unwavering commitment to enhancing the country’s border infrastructure, which plays a critical role in both socio-economic development and national defence.

Singh emphasised the broader vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Viksit Bharat by 2047,' noting that projects like these will contribute significantly to achieving that goal by reinforcing the nation's infrastructure.

The Minister also highlighted the critical importance of these projects in terms of defence preparedness, stating that the new infrastructure will allow for better and faster mobilisation of resources in sensitive border areas.

The completed projects will not only serve the defence forces but also improve the livelihoods of people residing in these remote regions, who often face challenges due to lack of infrastructure.
