Over 26 Lakh Devotees Register for Ongoing Char Dham Yatra: Officials.

The Uttarakhand Director General of Police, Abhinav Kumar, conducted a high-level meeting at the state secretariat to address the unexpected surge of devotees arriving for the Char Dham Yatra.

In response to the overcrowding at the four Dhams, he issued a letter to the Director Generals of Police across all states, urging them to refrain from sending any VIPs for the Char Dham Darshan until May 31.

Commissioner of Garhwal Division, Vinay Shankar Pandey, revealed that over 26 lakh devotees from various parts of the country and abroad have registered for the ongoing Char Dham Yatra.

He disclosed this information during a press conference dedicated to the Char Dham Yatra, highlighting the substantial increase in devotee numbers compared to the previous year. Additionally, he mentioned that more than 1.42 lakh offline registrations were processed at Haridwar and Rishikesh counters.

The pilgrimage to Kedarnath has witnessed a significant influx of devotees since the opening of the doors of Shri Kedarnath Dham on May 10. Over 2,76,416 pilgrims have visited Char Dham so far, with more than one lakh devotees reaching Kedarnath within four days, setting a new record. The atmosphere at all three Dhams – Kedarnath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri – has been vibrant and bustling.

The Char Dham Yatra commenced in Uttarakhand on May 10, embarking on a journey that holds deep spiritual significance in Hinduism. This pilgrimage traditionally takes place from April-May to October-November, with devotees completing the circuit in a clockwise direction, starting from Yamunotri, then proceeding to Gangotri, Kedarnath, and finally culminating at Badrinath.

The pilgrimage can be undertaken by road or air, with helicopter services available for convenience. Many devotees opt for a Do Dham Yatra, visiting two shrines – Kedarnath and Badrinath.

The Char Dham Yatra, comprising Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath, holds immense importance in Hindu culture, with 'char' signifying four and 'dham' referring to religious destinations. It remains one of the most revered and spiritually enriching journeys for devotees seeking divine blessings.
