The Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) launched a scathing attack on the Congress party, condemning the ceding of Katchatheevu island to Sri Lanka by the Indira Gandhi government in 1974.

Describing this act as a betrayal of India's sovereignty and territorial integrity, the VHP criticized the Congress for its indifference and negligence towards national interests.

External Affairs Minister and BJP leader S Jaishankar echoed these sentiments, highlighting the Congress's disregard for legal views opposing the handover of the island. Prime Minister Narendra Modi further emphasized the issue, asserting that recent revelations expose the Congress's careless decision to give away Katchatheevu to Sri Lanka.

The VHP expressed hope that the patriotic and nationalist citizens of India would elect a government capable of reclaiming Katchatheevu and other Indian territories occupied by neighboring countries. They deemed the transfer of Katchatheevu as arbitrary and unconstitutional, emphasizing its impact on India's sovereignty and the rights of its fishermen.

Surendra Jain, joint general secretary of VHP, condemned the Congress governments for their negligence towards national interests, accusing them of prioritizing personal gains over the nation's welfare. He called for the electorate to choose a government committed to reclaiming Katchatheevu and other unlawfully occupied territories.

The VHP expressed confidence that the upcoming general elections would bring a government to power that could restore not only Katchatheevu but also reclaim all other unlawfully seized territories. They urged for a unified effort to fulfill the national resolve and reclaim India's lost territories from aggressors and grabbers.

In summary, the VHP's criticism of the Congress over the Katchatheevu issue underscores the importance of safeguarding India's sovereignty and territorial integrity, calling for decisive action to reclaim lost territories.
