Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has voiced his concerns over the situation of minority Hindus in Bangladesh, criticising the opposition INDIA bloc for their silence on the issue. He alleged that the opposition's quiet stance is motivated by a fear of losing their vote bank.

Adityanath expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for bringing attention to what he described as dark chapters of history. He highlighted the ongoing suffering of Hindus in Bangladesh, stating that approximately 1.5 crore Hindus are in distress, but the world remains silent. He accused secularists in India, particularly those from the opposition, of ignoring the plight of these individuals due to electoral concerns.

The Chief Minister criticised Congress for allegedly perpetuating a "divide and rule" policy since independence, comparing their governance to that of British colonists. He referenced a statement by Maharishi Arvind, who suggested that Pakistan would either merge with India or be erased from history.

Adityanath claimed that the atrocities witnessed during the partition are repeating themselves in Bangladesh today, with similar violence and persecution against Hindus.

On Tuesday, tensions in Bangladesh escalated when a minor clash occurred between the Bangladesh Army and members of the minority Hindu community. The clash involved protesters holding posters of their missing family members amidst ongoing violence in the country.

Bangladesh is currently facing political instability, with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina resigning on August 5 amid widespread protests. These protests, initially led by students opposing a quota system for government jobs, have grown into broader anti-government demonstrations.

In response to the situation, Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus, the chief advisor of Bangladesh’s interim government, visited the Dhakeshwari Temple in Dhaka. Yunus reassured the minority communities of their safety and security in Bangladesh.

He emphasised that everyone has equal rights and urged patience while the government addresses the issues. Yunus encouraged people to evaluate the government's performance after a reasonable period and to criticise it if necessary.
