Veteran BJP leader Lal Krishna Advani was admitted to the AIIMS here late on Wednesday night, sources said.
“He is stable and under observation,” a source said.
The 96-year-old former deputy prime minister has been admitted in the old private ward of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and is learnt to being treated by doctors from the Department of Urology.
However, there was no immediate clarity on his ailment.
The former deputy prime minister was hospitalised just three months after being conferred the Bharat Ratna, the countr’'s highest civilian honour. President Droupadi Murmu presented the Bharat Ratna to Advani at his residence in Delhi.
The formal ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Home Minister Amit Shah and the family members of LK Advani.
LK Advani served as the deputy prime minister of India from June 2002 to May 2004 and as the Union Home Minister from October 1999 to May 2004. He was BJP president multiple times— from 1986 to 1990, 1993 to 1998 and 2004 to 2005.
