The campaign for the by-polls to Dehra, Hamirpur, and Nalagarh assembly seats in Himachal Pradesh came to an end on Monday evening. The ruling Congress and opposition BJP made a last-ditch effort to reach out to voters through roadshows and rallies.

The by-polls, scheduled for July 10, were necessitated after three Independent MLAs resigned and joined the BJP. Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu addressed rallies in Dehra, accusing the BJP of betraying the people and misusing money and power. He also promised to resolve the issues of Pong Dam oustees and establish an SP Office and PWD office in Dehra.

The by-polls are seen as a test for the Congress government, which recently won four out of six assembly seats in the state. The election department has set up 315 polling stations, and polling parties have been dispatched to ensure a smooth voting process."
