Former Bharatiya Janata Party Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition, Jai Ram Thakur on Saturday, said the Congress model of guarantees in Himachal Pradesh was a 'flop'.
Talking to media persons here, Jai Ram Thakur said Prime Minister, Narendra Modi has rightly said that the Congress government had given false guarantees to come to power in Himachal Pradesh and the situation now was that the government employees were not getting salaries on time.
"What Prime Minister has pointed out in the polls with reference to Congress governments in Himachal, Maharashtra, and Telangana is hundred per cent true. And not only PM, now Congress President has also questioned the need for giving poll guarantees which could not be fulfilled," Thakur said.
Thakur then said it had never happened in the hill state that the chief minister had to announce the date of giving salary every month.
He said the Congress government came to power by giving fake guarantees, which it has been unable to fulfill.
He said the Congress talked about giving one lakh jobs to the youth immediately after coming to power in its poll guarantee, which had not been fulfilled..Rather, the government notified to abolish more than one lakh posts recently.
"When there was hullaballo over the issue, the CM tried to circumvent the issue," he said.
Thakur alleged that the Congress government had cheated the unemployed youth, whose job opportunities have been abolished in HP.
Thakur said the Congress government had not fulfilled the guarantee of giving Rs 1500 per month to the women in Himachal Pradesh. He said the people also feel cheated on account of the Congress promise of generating self employment opportunities for the youth.
"Nothing has been done on this account,", he said.
The BJP leader said Himachal had earned a bad name in the country because of Congress rule, which had not only given false guarantees in polls to come to power but has brought the development to a standstill phase.
"It is a directionless governance in HP and people in the entire country know about this now and Congress is exposed now," he said.
