Haryana Congress hands memorandum to Guv seeking to dissolve Assembly.

Haryana Congress leaders, including former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and party President Chaudhary Udaibhan, submitted a memorandum to Governor Bandaru Dattatreya on Thursday, reiterating their demand for the dissolution of the State Assembly and the imposition of President's rule, followed by early elections.

Following the submission of the memorandum, Hooda and Udaibhan addressed a press conference where they mentioned that the Congress Legislature Party had previously submitted a memorandum on May 10, 2024, addressing the same issues.

What does the memorandum say:

Congress said that the ruling BJP has 41 MLAs, and with the support of one MLA of HLP and one independent, the count becomes 43, which still falls short of the majority mark of 44 in the 87-member House.

"Therefore, as the protector of the Constitution, His Excellency the Governor should immediately dismiss the minority government and impose President's rule in the state," the memorandum cites.

The Congress urged the Governor to maintain the dignity and sanctity of the Constitution while discharging his constitutional duties. The Congress also sought orders to be passed to conduct assembly elections as per rules to provide an opportunity for the people of the state to elect a majority government.

"This government should resign on moral grounds and the Governor should immediately dissolve the Assembly to stop horse trading. The Governor has assured to consider the memorandum," the former Chief Minister said.

Udaibhan further reaffirmed that the grand old party is fully prepared for the assembly elections in the state, scheduled for October.

"The results of the Lok Sabha elections have shown that the Congress is the strongest party in the state. 42 former MLAs, former ministers, MPs, and former MPs from other parties, including the BJP, have joined the Congress. Three independent MLAs supporting the government have also supported the Congress in the Lok Sabha elections," he said.

Speaking on Kiran Chaudhary's switch to the BJP, Hooda said, that for a long time, she felt aligned with the saffron fold, despite being formally associated with the Congress.

Answering questions regarding recruitment, Hooda said, "Sometimes paper leaks and sometimes scams of changing OMR sheets come to light. Jobs are being sold like goods at a grocery store during the BJP government,he said.

“From the NEET exam to the NET exam, widespread irregularities are in front of everyone. It is clear that this government does not want to make permanent recruitments. In Haryana, vacant posts are being filled through Kaushal Rojgar Nigam. Neither reservation nor transparency, youth are being exploited at low salaries in Kaushal Nigam. There is no job security for the workers there,he added.

Terming the MSP increase as inadequate, Hooda said BJP makes a very minor increase in comparison to the skyrocketing input costs.

“BJP has turned MSP increase into a mere formality. The cost of the farmer has increased manifold during the current government and the farming class has been pushed to the brink of ruin,he said.
