Senior BJP leader Louis Marandi, who defeated Hemant Soren in the 2014 Assembly polls from Dumka and had adorned party posts at nation levels joined Jharkhand Mukti Morcha late on Monday evening.
Apart from Marandi, five other BJP leaders including former MLA Kunal Sarangi, former MLA Laxman Tudu, former BJP candidate from Saraikela assembly constituency Ganesh Mahali, BJP district president of East Singhbhum Bari Murmu, BJP leader Basco Besra joined the JMM on Monday.
JMM executive president Hemant Soren welcomed the leaders with the party's scarf and inducted them into the party.
On this occasion, mainly the party's Central general secretary Vinod Pandey and Baharagora MLA Samir Mohanty and Kalpana Murmu Soren were present.
Before joining the JMM, Marandi resigned from all posts of the BJP including State vice president. In her resignation letter, she cited widespread indiscipline and factions in the BJP.
Louis Marandi was unhappy with the BJP denying her party ticket from Dumka seat, which is her home turf. Instead the party wanted her to contest from Barhet seat against Hemant Soren.
On the other hand after joining the JMM, she could contest from the Jama seat, which was earlier contested by Sita Soren from JMM.
Former MLA Kunal Sarangi, whose father was the first Health Minister of Jharkhand, had already resigned from BJP and was willing to contest from his traditional seat Baharagora.
