Nitin Narang, hailing from Karnal, Haryana, has made history by being unanimously elected as the President of the All India Chess Federation (AICF) for the term 2024–27. This marks a significant milestone as Narang becomes the youngest ever to hold this prestigious position and the first from Haryana.

Having previously served as the Vice President of the Haryana Chess Association, Narang brings a wealth of experience and dedication to the role, particularly in nurturing the sport at the grassroots level. At 36, his leadership embodies a fresh perspective and a strong commitment to the development of chess in India.

Narang is the CEO of a national Political Think Tank "The Ideaz Factory", as well as other ventures in multiple locations across the country.

Joining Narang in steering the AICF towards new horizons are Dev A Patel from Gujarat, elected as Secretary, and Dharmendra Kumar from Bihar, appointed as Treasurer. Patel's appointment, as the youngest Secretary in AICF's history, reflects a drive for youthful innovation and dynamism within the organization.

The election process, overseen by distinguished returning officers Justice Rang Nath Pandey and Justice G S Sistani, unfolded with transparency and adherence to democratic principles during the General Body meeting at the Leela Ambience Convention Hotel.

Notably, all office-bearers, including six Vice Presidents and six Joint Secretaries, were elected unopposed, signifying a unified vision towards advancing Indian chess.

The newly appointed Vice Presidents represent a diverse geographic spread, including Anil Kumar Raizada (Uttar Pradesh), Grandmaster Dibyendu Barua (West Bengal), Raghvendra Singhania (Chhattisgarh), D P Anantha (Karnataka), Mahaveer Ranka (Rajasthan), and Repo Ronya (Arunachal Pradesh).

Similarly, the Joint Secretaries elected from different regions of the country include Kandarpa Kalita (Assam), Prasanta Kundu (Tripura), Soibam Mangijao Singh (Manipur), H Lalthlamuana (Mizoram), Sanjeev Thakur (Himachal Pradesh), and Manish Kumar (Jharkhand).

With this dynamic and diverse leadership team at the helm, the AICF is poised to foster talent, promote the game of chess across India, and uphold the values of integrity and sportsmanship.

About AICF:

Established in 1951, the All India Chess Federation (AICF) serves as the central governing body for chess in India, dedicated to the promotion and advancement of the game at all levels. Over the years, the AICF has played a pivotal role in organizing national championships, supporting players, and representing India in international chess arenas.
