Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Friday distributed tablets to teachers from 28,945 government primary schools during an event organised by the School Education and Literacy Department in Ranchi.
Speaking at the event, Soren highlighted the crucial role of digital literacy in keeping pace with the rapidly evolving world.
As part of efforts to enhance the education system, he introduced the School Report Card and launched a compulsory 50-hour integrated capacity-building programme for teachers. This initiative aims to strengthen teaching quality across the state.
In a significant step towards digitising government schools, he announced that key functions such as attendance tracking, student monitoring, teacher training, and supervision would now be managed digitally. He emphasised that incorporating tablets into the system would improve efficiency and enhance learning outcomes.

With digital classrooms, e-learning resources, and online coaching becoming more common, Soren underscored the need for students to develop technical skills to stay competitive in today’s digital age.
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring quality education and equipping students with the necessary digital capabilities for future success.
Soren also highlighted the government’s ongoing support for outstanding students, including providing laptops, mobile phones, and financial assistance to top performers from JAC, CBSE, and ICSE boards.
Additionally, promising students from underprivileged backgrounds are being given government-sponsored opportunities to study abroad.
Addressing the issue of weak network connectivity in rural areas, he announced plans to set up mobile towers in all panchayats to ensure uninterrupted access to digital services across villages.
