The Hisar police on Monday detained 39 Bangladeshi nationals, including 14 men, 11 women, and 14 children, for allegedly residing and working illegally in the Hansi area. The group had been employed at a brick kiln on Tosham Road and failed to produce any valid documents authorising their stay or work in India.
According to police sources, preliminary investigations revealed that the group had illegally crossed into India from Bangladesh. A detailed inquiry is underway, and security agencies will also look into the matter.
Hansi Superintendent of Police Amit Yashvardhan confirmed that legal procedures are being followed and the individuals are currently in police custody. Once documentation and formalities are complete, the group will be transferred to a designated detention centre in Delhi. The police conducted the survey based on secret information. The brick kiln owner stated that he had brought the workers from Rajasthan about a month ago. He also claimed that some families possessed Aadhaar cards issued from West Bengal. A few additional families reportedly joined the group just a few days ago.
Officials said the operation was carried out following a tip-off and is part of a broader drive to identify and detain illegal Bangladeshi and Pakistani nationals residing in the region. Last month, a 15-member Pakistani family living in Balsamand village, Hisar, was similarly sent to a Delhi detention centre.
In a related case, 14 Bangladeshi nationals working at brick kilns in Mahendergarh were also apprehended recently. They were found to be in possession of fake Aadhaar cards. The authorities continue to intensify surveillance and verification efforts across Haryana.
