The incident took place on Thursday night at the City Hospital on Trichy Road.

A fire at a private hospital in Dindigul, Tamil Nadu, on Thursday night killed at least six people, including a boy. The fire started around 8 pm at City Hospital on Trichy Road.

Authorities believe the fire may have been caused by an electrical short circuit, but an investigation is still ongoing.

TV footage showed thick smoke and flames coming from the building, while fire trucks took nearly two hours to put out the fire.

Police and fire officials said the six victims were found unconscious in a lift. They were taken to a hospital but were declared dead by doctors.

Other patients were safely evacuated and taken to nearby government hospitals.
