Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has announced that his government was in talks with the technology giant Google to explore the possibility of setting up a YouTube academy in the state to foster futuristic technologies with local partners.
The announcement followed his online interaction with YouTube chief executive Neal Mohan and Google Asia Pacific head Sanjay Gupta.
The Chief Minister emphasised that the proposed academy could focus on research in content creation, skill development, artificial intelligence, and certification programs. He proposed that the academy be established in Media City, which is part of the new capital city of Amaravati.
"Delighted to connect with Youtube global CEO Neal Mohan and Google APAC head, Sanjay Gupta online today. We discussed setting up a YouTube Academy in Andhra Pradesh in collaboration with local partners," said Naidu in a post in 'X', formerly Twitter.
“This comprehensive partnership will explore AI applications across various key sectors, such as agriculture, healthcare, and sustainability, as well as skill development, startup ecosystems, workforce, MSME, and governance,” Naidu said.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is expected to be signed between the Andhra Pradesh government and Google to formalise the partnership.
“Over the last two decades, technology has transformed our lives at an amazing pace. We are now moving into the era of Artificial Intelligence. AI has the potential to transform our lives in many fascinating ways.
However, as we embrace technology enthusiastically, we must also focus on its best potential application - solving our most pressing issues, and bettering human lives. As an administrator, I firmly believe that the primary objective of technology ought to be to facilitate advancements in important socio-economic parameters.
I'm committed to transforming Andhra Pradesh into India's tech capital and enthusiastic about the prospects of partnering with global tech pioneers,” the Chief Minister in a Linked-In post.
“Andhra Pradesh is on a trajectory to become India's digital epicentre and we are enthused about prospects of partnering with global pioneers like Google and YouTube,” he said.
