Security forces successfully foiled an infiltration attempt along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu & Kashmir's Uri sector on Saturday, June 22.

 

Officials reported that the Army and other security personnel thwarted the infiltration bid in the Gohallan area of Baramulla district.

 

 "A group of terrorists was noticed by the security forces trying to sneak into this side of the LoC in the Gohallan area of Uri.

 

The security forces challenged the group, and the infiltration bid was foiled," said the officials.

 

There has been a noticeable increase in terrorist activities in Jammu & Kashmir over the past fortnight.

Intelligence agencies suggest that these actions are desperate attempts by terrorists to disrupt the peace in the region.

 

With the Centre set to commence holding Assembly elections in the Union Territory, terror elements appear to be aiming to create disturbances.

 

The Indian Army has consistently foiled numerous infiltration attempts by terrorists trying to enter Kashmir. These operations have resulted in the elimination of several terrorists.

 

While terrorist attacks have decreased in the Kashmir region, there has been a noticeable shift in focus towards the Jammu region.

 

This shift presents additional challenges for security forces in tracking and apprehending the terrorists.

 

Since 2021, Jammu has witnessed 29 attacks, with 17 civilians, mostly non-locals, losing their lives in just the first six months of this year.

 

Experts suggest that these attacks in Jammu are diversion tactics intended to distract security forces while terrorists attempt to infiltrate Kashmir from the north.

 

This strategy has further complicated the security situation in the Union Territory, with terrorists employing hit-and-run tactics.
