Arunachal Pradesh’s pioneering ‘Medicine from the Sky’ project, launched in 2022 with the World Economic Forum (WEF), has delivered over 12,000 medical supplies across the state.

According to a WEF report, the initiative, which began as a pilot project between Seppa and Chayang Tajo on August 15, 2022, has successfully transported critical medicines to challenging terrains, significantly improving healthcare access.

Chief Minister Pema Khandu praised the project on X, stating, “The scheme has successfully delivered thousands of life-saving medicines across the challenging terrains of Arunachal Pradesh. Heartening to see that our initiative has received praise from the World Economic Forum.”

Launched under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision to make India a drone hub, the programme utilises drones to overcome geographical barriers. According to the WEF, the project has saved over 15,000 hours of land travel time, demonstrating its efficiency and impact.
