Arunachal trio to represent India at BRICS Games

Three karatekas from Arunachal Pradesh —Mesom Singhi, Abab Sangdo, and Johny Mangkhiya—have been selected to represent India at the International Multi-sport BRICS Games in Kazan, Russia.

Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu expressed his pride and joy statting, “I am so happy and proud to share that Arunachalee karatekas Abab Sangdo, Johny Mangkhiya, and Mesom Singhi will represent India at BRICS Games 2024 in Kazan! Best wishes to our athletes as they showcase their talent on this international stage.”

Previously selected for the 19th Asian Games in China last year, the trio was unable to participate due to visa issues. Now, they are part of an eight-member Indian karate team, which includes four male and four female athletes. The competition will feature events across 27 different sports, significantly expanding its international reach.

The BRICS Games isan annual multi-sport event that brings together athletes from Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, and other nations to compete in various sports. This year's event in Kazan offers a significant platform for athletes to demonstrate their skills and bring glory to their countries.

Singhi, Sangdo, and Mangkhiya’s selection is expected to inspire budding young athletes in Arunachal Pradesh and across India.
