Assam's Kaziranga National Park has captivated wildlife enthusiasts with the discovery of a rare Salazar Pit Viper, a snake reminiscent of the fictional creatures from the Harry Potter series.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma recently shared images of the striking green serpent, drawing parallels to the magical world of Hogwarts.

Describing the find as a "real-life Harry Potter snake," CM Sarma marveled at the Salazar Pit Viper's vibrant green hue and distinctive red-orange stripe across its head. The photos, shared on social media, quickly garnered attention and admiration for the park's rich biodiversity.

"Guess what, kids? Kaziranga just found a real-life Harry Potter snake!" CM Sarma exclaimed in his post, highlighting the snake's unique features and the marvels of nature.

Since its posting on July 8, the images have sparked a wave of positive reactions from users.

Comments praising Assam's natural beauty and the park's diverse wildlife flooded in, with many expressing awe at the snake's striking appearance.

Kaziranga National Park, spanning 1,307 square kilometers, boasts a varied landscape of grasslands, marshes, and floodplains, making it an ideal habitat for a wide array of mammals, birds, amphibians, and reptiles.

The recent discovery of the Salazar Pit Viper adds to the park's reputation as a biodiversity hotspot.

The park's rich fauna includes 24 amphibian species and 74 reptile species, underscoring its importance in wildlife conservation and research.

The discovery of new species like the Salazar Pit Viper enhances Kaziranga's status as a sanctuary for rare and fascinating creatures.

In related global wildlife discoveries, earlier this year, scientists unveiled a new species of green anaconda in the Amazon rainforest.

Dr. Freek Vonk, a prominent biologist, shared footage of a colossal 26-foot-long anaconda, describing it as one of his career highlights.
