Intense shelling by Pakistani forces has caused widespread destruction to civilian areas and infrastructure across Jammu and Kashmir, with Kupwara, Uri, and Poonch bearing the brunt of the damage.
Houses, water tanks, and other properties in Kupwara and Uri have suffered severe damage, while residential buildings in Poonch have also been extensively impacted.
Balbir Singh, a resident of Poonch, described the dire situation, saying, “Civilian areas have suffered massive damages,” adding, “We were uprooted in 1947 and then came to live here. A massive firing is ongoing now. We will not leave Poonch and go anywhere else. We will stand shoulder to shoulder with the Army and Administration. They may bomb us as much as they want; we will not be scared.”
Meanwhile, teams from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), local police, and administrative officials have cordoned off the area near the Aap Shambhu Temple in Jammu, where a Pakistani strike occurred. SDRF personnel confirmed that no casualties have been reported from the site.
