Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Thursday handed over appointment letters to 126 newly appointed Gram Panchayat Development Officers (GPDOs) under the Panchayati Raj Department at the Mukhya Sewak Sadan in his official residence.

Highlighting the state government's commitment to employment generation, CM Dhami stated that over 20,000 youth have secured government jobs in the past three and a half years.

Congratulating the newly appointed officers, he called this a significant milestone in their careers, urging them to actively contribute to the holistic development of villages.

"The Gram Panchayat is the backbone of democracy, and its development is essential for the overall progress of Uttarakhand. The role of Gram Panchayat Development Officers is crucial in ensuring that villages receive the necessary resources and infrastructure for growth," the Chief Minister said.

Uttarakhand implements strictest anti-cheating law

CM Dhami reiterated his government’s commitment to transparency in recruitment, emphasising that Uttarakhand has enacted the country’s strictest anti-copying law. He explained that strict penalties and fines have been imposed to deter unfair practices in examinations.

"A hardworking and dedicated individual who attains a position through honesty and merit understands the struggles of the common people and serves them with integrity," he added.

CM Dhami invoked the vision of Uttarakhand’s statehood movement, stating that the dream of a progressive and inclusive Uttarakhand must be realised through collective effort.

Warning against divisive politics

In a strong message, CM Dhami urged people to stay united and not be misled by divisive forces. He warned that the government would take strict action against anyone making provocative statements that threaten the state’s unity, regardless of their status—be it minister, MLA, MP, or a common citizen.

"From today onwards, any attempt to tamper with the identity of Uttarakhand will be dealt with seriously, and strict action will be taken against those responsible," he declared.

The event marked another step in the government's commitment to strengthening grassroots governance and accelerating rural development in Uttarakhand.
