Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, along with his mother Bishna Devi, cast their votes for the three-tier Panchayat elections on Thursday. They voted at booth number 3 in a school located in Nagla Tarai village in Khatima.
Voting for the Panchayat poll in Uttarakhand is being held in two phases. The first phase is taking place today, while the second phase will be held on July 28. The counting of votes is scheduled for July 31.
According to the Uttarakhand State Election Commission, the elections are being held in 12 districts, while Haridwar is excluded. The notification was issued by Sushil Kumar, the Uttarakhand State Election Commissioner, after the Nainital High Court allowed the Panchayat election process to continue. The court had earlier put a stay on the elections on June 23, but that order was lifted on Friday.
Earlier in the day, CM Dhami posted on social media, urging people to come out and vote in large numbers. He encouraged people to choose capable, aware, and dedicated representatives who can raise public concerns and help strengthen rural development.

The CM on his social media handle shared, “Empowered Panchayats, Empowered Uttarakhand. Today, the first phase of voting for the three-tier panchayat elections is taking place. I appeal to all the divine people of the state to reach the polling stations in large numbers and exercise their voting rights. With your vote, choose capable, aware, and dedicated representatives who will strongly raise your voice and strengthen the foundation of rural development. Your single vote is an important step towards a robust Panchayati Raj system.”
Meanwhile, on July 23, CM Dhami expressed his appreciation after the Uttar Pradesh government released ₹1,600 crore to Uttarakhand as part of the state’s pension share for the financial years 2021–22 and 2022–23. He thanked UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for the cooperation and said that issues related to assets and liabilities between the two states are now being resolved faster because of better coordination and regular dialogue.
