A day after the blast at Rameshwaram Cafe in Bengaluru’s Brookefield area, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah accepted the claims that it was a blast. However, he did not specifically mention whether it was an act of terror or if some individual or group had planned this.

While speaking to the media in Mysuru on Saturday, Siddaramaiah said, “We are carrying out a serious investigation. We have the CCTV footage, which shows that the accused was wearing a cap and a mask. He arrived at the café in a bus and took a token at the counter. He had a cup of coffee sitting at the corner of the café and then left a bag in which there was a timer fixed explosive. Since we have the pictures of the accused, investigation has become easy.”

He, further, added: “Those injured in the incident are out of danger now. DCM DK Shivakumar and Home minister Dr G Parameshwar have visited the injured and the café too. I will also be visiting the spot and meeting those nine injured people.”

The BJP has made allegations of minority appeasement by the Congress. However, Siddaramaiah has denied the claims. Going down the annals of history, he said: “There were such incidents including a Mangaluru cooker blast that happened during the BJP-led state government. So, were they indulging in appeasing the minority? We condemn the blast. However, politicising the event is not right.”

The CM also denied allegations that the BJP is trying to tamper the FSL report of video to shield Rajya Sabha winner from Congress, Syed Nasir Hussain, which proves that he allegedly raised ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ slogans in the corridors of the Vidhana Soudha recently.

He said, “If we receive the FSL report, we will take action accordingly. There is no question of shielding anyone, those who err will be punished in our government.”
