Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin on Thursday announced "full state honours" for the funeral of DMDK founder and chief Vijayakanth who died this morning after he was admitted to the hospital following illness this week.
The chief minister conveyed his shock and grief at the demise of actor-turned-politician Vijayakanth, praising him as a successful figure in both the realms of acting and public leadership.
As a mark of homage, the state government will accord full state honours for Vijayakanth's funeral, CM Stalin said while making the announcement.
The DMDK founder's death is a huge loss for Tamil Nadu and the world of cinema, the Chief Minister said and conveyed his condolences to the bereaved family members and party workers.
While writing an emotional post on “X” platform for DMDK founder, the chief minister cites, “The demise of our dear friend Vijayakanth, fondly known as Captain Enath by Tamil people, is a loss to Tamil Nadu and the film world. In this very sad situation, I express my condolences to Captain Vijayakanth’s family, including his sister Premalatha Vijayakanth, the volunteers of the National Progressive Dravidian Association, the film industry and fans.”
“Condolences on behalf of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam. As a tribute to Vijayakanth, his last journey will be given full state honours,” the post further adds.
