Congress running away from real public issues in Himachal: Bindal

Himachal Pradesh BJP President, Dr Rajeev Bindal addressing media persons in Shimla today.

Himachal Pradesh BJP President, Dr Rajeev Bindal today said the Congress government had nothing to showcase as its achievement in 15 months months of rule in the state.

“The Congress leadership is running away from the real issues of the public in polls and is instead resorting to some words and statements to get prominence in the media in a planned manner,” Bindal said.

Talking to media persons in Shimla today, the BJP chief said the Chief Minister used objectionable words like ‘Kaley naag’, and ‘Bhed Bakriyan’ for the elected representatives and set the tone for such a campaign in the elections, which was not in a good taste.

“In the same manner, state Congress Chief, Pratibha Singh referred to BJP’s candidate from Mandi, who is a great artist, as if she was a thing that people want to see. These are insulting words for a woman,” he said.

Bindal said it seemed Congress had no issue in hand to talk about in the elections. He said the BJP was fighting the Lok Sabha poll on the issue of ten years of achievements of its government in the Centre, whether it was upliftment of the poor, women, it’s about national development or ‘vikas bhi, virasat bhi’.

He said the ruling Congress in Himachal Pradesh must come clean on some points, like unkept promise of one lakh jobs for the youth in first cabinet, getting loan of Rs 28000 Crore in 15 months, misuse of public exchequer for friends and the Chief Parliamentary Secretaries by making them partners in the government, abusing BJP and cursing the the Congress MLAs and independent MLAs, who revolted because of the wrong policies of the Congress government.

Bindal said the BJP was clear that Narendra Modi will become the Prime Minister for the third time in 2024 with public support.

“We are very sure that the Congress party will be limited to 30-35 members in the Parliament. Yet, if Congress is saying it will form the government, it must clarify who is their Prime Ministerial candidate. Is it Rahul Gandhi, who ran from Wayanad and Amethi and is now contesting from Rae Bareilly, filing his nomination at the last moment,” he said.

The state BJP President said the BJP would be carrying on its Panna sammelans till May 9, would focus on the nominations from May 9 to 15 and will intensify the campaigning further after May 15 for June 1 elections in Himachal Pradesh.

He said there was no rebellion in BJP in the run-up to Assembly by-polls and rubbished the reports about former BJP minister from Kutlehar segment Virender Kanwar being upset with the party accommodating Congress rebel Devinder Bhutto from the constituency for by-poll.

“The BJP leader is campaigning for the party sincerely, sharing the stage with Devinder Bhutto and he is the poll in-charge of BJP nominee on Hamirpur Lok Sabha seat, Union minister, Anurag Thakur also,” he said.

Bindal released the dates of nomination filing by the BJP candidates in the Lok Sabha election and Assembly by-polls in the state. He said BJP nominee Anurag Thakur will file his nomination for the Lok Sabha poll from Hamirpur on 13 May and the party’s candidate for Mandi, Kangana Ranaut on 14 May.
