The Budget session of the Eighth Delhi Legislative Assembly will begin on Monday at 11 am. The newly elected Delhi government will present its first budget on March 25.
Delhi Legislative Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta confirmed the schedule. "Tomorrow is the first day of the Budget Session. The budget will be presented on March 25. The CAG report will also be tabled during the session," he told the media on Sunday.
The session is crucial as it will decide key financial and policy matters. It is expected to run from March 24 to March 28, 2025. However, it may be extended if needed.
A major highlight will be the tabling of the CAG report on the functioning of the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC). The Delhi Assembly Secretariat stated that this will be the third CAG report presented during the session.

The annual budget presentation on March 25 will outline the government’s financial priorities. It will focus on development plans and key allocations for the coming year.
A general discussion on the budget will take place on March 26. Lawmakers will analyse financial decisions and policy initiatives. This discussion will provide insights into government spending.
On March 27, the Assembly will deliberate and vote on the proposed budget. The approval process will be a crucial step in finalising financial plans.
March 28 has been set aside for private members’ business. Legislators will introduce and debate resolutions and bills. This session allows members to bring forward important issues not covered in the government’s agenda.
The Assembly sittings will start daily at 11 am. There will be a lunch break from 1 to 2 PM.
The Question Hour, an essential part of legislative scrutiny, will be held on March 24, 26, 27, and 28. During this period, ministers will respond to questions related to various departments. Members wishing to raise public issues under Rule-280 must submit their notices by 5 pm on the working day before the sitting.
A balloting process will determine the first ten notices for discussion each day. Private Members' Resolutions will be taken up on March 28. Members must submit notices at least 12 days in advance.
The Speaker has issued directions to ensure order and efficiency during the session. "Members are advised to follow the rules for submitting questions, resolutions, and special mentions. Seating arrangements must be followed...," the Speaker’s directive stated.
