The monsoon may reach Delhi by the end of this week, providing relief from the current sweltering conditions, according to a private weather agency's forecast on Wednesday.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has not disclosed when the monsoon is expected to reach the national capital.
Mahesh Palawat of Skymet Weather Services has stated, "The monsoon is anticipated to reach Delhi on either June 29th or 30th." The monsoon typically arrives in Delhi between June 27th and 29th.
Historical data shows that last year, it arrived on June 26th, and the first monsoon showers of 2022 were recorded on June 30th.
The Safdarjung Observatory, Delhi's main weather station, reported a temperature of 39 degrees Celsius on Wednesday, which is two notches above normal.
The city's weather has changed due to a western disturbance, which has dropped the maximum temperature. Delhi has been receiving pre-monsoon showers, which have brought some respite from the scorching heat.
Delhi has been reeling from sweltering heat, recording nine heatwave days in June so far compared to none in 2023 and 2022.
