The electoral process for the Haryana assembly polls has officially commenced today as the Election Commission of India issued a notification that marks the start of nomination filing.
According to the notification released, September 12th is the deadline for submitting nominations.
The scrutiny of the nomination papers will take place on September 13th. Candidates have until September 16th to withdraw their nominations if they choose to do so.
Recently, the incumbent BJP released its list of 67 candidates for the Haryana assembly polls.
The list has broiled up some candidates leading to their resignation from the Party. According to reports, Ranjit Singh Chautala, Lakshmann Dass Napa, and Karan Dev Kamboj have raised their rebellious voices against their denial of tickets and have handed in their resignation. Napa has even met Bhupinder Singh Hooda at his residence, in his quest to join Congress.
The list comprises of Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, who will contest from the Ladwa seat. Other notable candidates on the BJP list include Anil Vij from Ambala Cantt, Sunita Duggal from Rati, Gian Chand Gupta from Panchkula, Kanwar Pal Gurjar from Jagadhri, Bhavya Bishnoi from Adampur, and Tejpal Tanwar from Sohna.
The election for the Haryana assembly is scheduled on October 5th and the vote counting will take place on October 8th.
Other major parties like the Janayaka Janta Party (JJP) have also announced their list of 19 candidates. JJP has formed an alliance with Chandrashekhar Azad’s Azad Samaj Party (ASP) for the upcoming elections.
