Founder of Jan Suraaj Prashant Kishor, rallied voters in Bihar’s Ramgarh Assembly segment ahead of the upcoming by-polls, calling on them to "abandon caste and ration-based voting" practices which, he claimed, had "hindered" Bihar’s development.
Addressing a crowd on Wednesday, the political strategist-turned-activist condemned Bihar’s political trajectory, saying the state has suffered due to loyalty to leaders offering caste allegiances and free rations.
“Lalu and Nitish have kept Bihar trapped in ‘jaat’ (caste) politics for 35 years. In the past decade, Modi has been short-changing you with five kilograms of ration,” Kishor remarked, adding that voters must renounce these allegiances if they wish to build a brighter future.
He continued, “If you support the BJP, you’ll be strengthening Nitish Kumar, who continues to allow an unchecked bureaucracy to rule and burden the state with issues such as abrupt electricity cut-offs, inflated utility bills, and turmoil from a flawed land survey.”
Kishor’s Jan Suraaj Party is vying for a win in Ramgarh, while the ruling Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) seeks to hold the seat against a challenge from the BJP.
The strategist, also founder of IPAC, took a firm stand against the BJP, asserting that the party’s support for Kumar implies a continuation of existing policies.
He advised voters to consider these factors ahead of Bihar’s by-polls, scheduled for 13 November in Ramgarh, Imamganj, Belaganj, and Tarari.
Each seat was vacated this year when MLAs resigned to contest the Lok Sabha elections. Kishor, stressing Bihar’s structural challenges, exhorted residents to vote with an eye toward lasting reform rather than short-term gains.
