After being denied a ticket from the Pilibhit Lok Sabha constituency, BJP MP Varun Gandhi penned an emotional letter to the people of his area, reaffirming his unwavering bond with them until his last breath.

In a heartfelt message shared on social media, Gandhi said that his connection with Pilibhit transcends political considerations and is rooted instead in love and trust.

The BJP has chosen Uttar Pradesh Public Works Minister Jitin Prasada as its candidate for Pilibhit, replacing Gandhi. Despite the vocal criticism of his own party's handling of issues such as inflation and unemployment, Gandhi's letter underscores his enduring commitment to the people he represents.

Prasada filed his nomination for the seat on Wednesday, marking a shift in the political landscape of Pilibhit.

Recounting his association with the constituency, he said, "Today, when I am writing this letter, countless memories have made me emotional. I remember that little three-year-old child who came to Pilibhit for the first time in 1983, holding the fingers of his mother. Little did he know that one day, this land would become his workplace, and the people here would become his family".

"The ideals given by Pilibhit were instrumental in my upbringing and development not only as an MP but also as a person. Being your representative has been the greatest honour of my life, and I have always raised my voice for your interests to the best of my ability," he said.

Varun Gandhi said that while his tenure as an MP may be nearing its conclusion, his relationship with Pilibhit will endure until his last breath.

"If not as an MP, then at least as a son, I am committed to serving you throughout my life, and my doors will always remain open for you as before. I came into politics to raise the voice of the common man, and today, I seek your blessings to continue doing this work always. Even if I have to pay any cost for this," he added.

For the first time in over three decades, the Pilibhit constituency in the Terai belt bordering Nepal will not see the mother-son duo of Maneka and Varun Gandhi vying for the seat.

The decision to deny Varun Gandhi a ticket this time did not come as a surprise, given his outspoken criticism of the BJP on issues such as farmers' welfare, healthcare, and employment.

Following his replacement by Prasada, speculation arose that Varun Gandhi might run as an independent candidate for the seat. However, the suspense concluded on Wednesday when he did not present himself before the nomination deadline.

Varun Gandhi previously secured victories in the constituency in 2009 and 2019 as a BJP candidate.
