Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini distributes sweets after BJP's mayoral candidates registered victories in seven municipal corporations in Haryana while its nominees were leading in two other civic bodies in the recently held elections.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured a major victory in Haryana’s municipal elections, winning nine out of ten mayoral posts.

Following the results, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini said that the BJP-led local bodies and the “triple-engine” government—referring to governance at the central, state, and local levels—will help achieve Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a "Viksit Bharat" (Developed India).

Speaking to reporters, CM Saini expressed his gratitude to the people of Haryana, calling the election results a strong endorsement of the BJP government’s leadership. He also thanked the Election Commission and officials for ensuring a peaceful election process.

The municipal elections took place on March 2, and BJP candidates won mayoral posts in nine cities, with Manesar being the only exception.  One of the key winners was Parveen Joshi, who was elected as the Mayor of Faridabad. She defeated Congress candidate Lata Rani by a margin of 3,16,852 votes.

After her victory, Joshi thanked the people for their support and acknowledged the challenges they face, including issues with drinking water, garbage disposal, and sewage systems.

She assured citizens that solutions would be implemented smoothly, citing assurances from Union Minister Krishan Pal Gurjar that there would be no hurdles in executing development schemes.

The municipal elections covered seven major corporations, including Faridabad, Gurugram, Hisar, Karnal, Rohtak, and Yamuna Nagar.

Elections were also held for four Municipal Councils and 21 Municipal Committees, including key locations such as Barara, Bawani Khera, Siwani, Loharu, and Farrukh Nagar. Additionally, bypolls were conducted for three municipal president posts in Sohna (Gurugram), Assandh (Karnal), and Ismailabad (Kurukshetra).
