Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren will visit Australia to study the rehabilitation process after mining, especially in tribal areas. Soren has accepted an official invitation extended by the Australian Ambassador in this regard.

Soren’s visit, which is proposed after the conclusion of the Jharkhand Assembly’s Budget Session, will primarily focus on the condition of tribal communities displaced due to mining activities.

During the visit, Soren will examine the rehabilitation models adopted for indigenous communities living in mining regions of Australia, along with measures for their socio-economic empowerment and welfare schemes implemented for their benefit.

The insights gained from the visit are expected to help the state government frame and implement improved policies for mining-affected communities in Jharkhand.

The Chief Minister will also study advanced and scientific mining technologies and operational practices followed in Australia. Known globally for its modern and sustainable mining methods, Australia has developed robust mining policies that balance economic growth with environmental protection.

Soren will closely observe mining regulations, environmental safeguards and sustainable mining models adopted there.

Like Jharkhand, Australia has a significant indigenous population. Soren will study the Australian government’s policy of land restoration and returning rehabilitated mining land to local communities after mining operations.

He will also gather information on mine safety norms, secure mining practices and policies aimed at protecting the interests of local residents.

Officials believe that Jharkhand and Australia share several similarities in terms of mining geography and challenges. The Chief Minister’s visit is expected to benefit Jharkhand’s mining sector while accelerating policy reforms and welfare initiatives for displaced tribal communities, ensuring inclusive and sustainable development in the state.
