Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren greets Speaker Rabindra Nath Mahto at State Assembly in Ranchi on Monday.

Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren today won the trust vote in the State Legislative Assembly during a special session called for the purpose.

Soren received a total of 45 votes during the confidence motion brought by him, while the Opposition boycotted the trust vote, resulting in zero votes against the motion.

After winning the trust vote, the Cabinet expansion of the Hemant Soren government will take place on July 8 itself. It is expected that two new ministers will take the oath of office, apart from eight old faces in the new Cabinet.

Earlier, CM Hemant Soren brought the confidence motion in the House, on which a debate was conducted.

Speaking against the motion, Leader of Opposition in the House Amar Bauri first congratulated Hemant Soren and said that the government started on the foundation of lies. The promises with which it was formed are still unfulfilled.

Bauri said that assistant police personnel are on strike and you are silent.

This government has only brought a scheme to cheat people. People have not received their pension for four months in this government. People with ration cards are not getting ration. There are constant irregularities in the examinations.

Bauri termed the government a corrupt one, saying that one of its ministers is in jail on charges of corruption.

Exams are conducted by blacklisted companies. Tribal interests are not being protected.

"After love and land jihad, vote jihad has started" he added.

He questioned why the government has been formed for two months. Is it formed to erase the evidence of the corruption that has taken place, he asked.

Speaking for the motion, CM Hemant Soren said that they brought a motion in the House that the government should get a vote of confidence.

“And this is going on as per the constitutional process. It can be understood from the conduct of our opposition colleagues as to how they must be feeling seeing me here again… I know that they do not have any political thinking,” said Soren.

AJSU Party chief Sudesh Mahto congratulated former Chief Minister Champai Soren for his five-month tenure. “You have adopted the conduct of democracy,” he said.

Mahto said that the government already had confidence. This confidence motion has been brought against Champai Soren. These are the circumstances that have been created. This government is again going into the conduct of monarchy.

He said that the people of Jharkhand are still not getting the basic things. Pension has been stopped for three months, food grains are not being provided to the needy. Now, the elections are also near, so people will decide their fate.

During the voting on the confidence motion, BJP legislators came into the well of the House and started sloganeering against the government.

Later, they boycotted the voting process and went out of the House, resulting in zero votes against the confidence motion.
