Several roads, including a national highway, are blocked in Himachal Pradesh as rain continues to lash parts of the state, officials said on Saturday.
Out of 339 roads blocked, 162 are in Mandi district and 106 in Kullu. National Highway 305, from Aut to Sainj, is also shut, the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC) said.
The weather office has issued a yellow alert for heavy rain in some areas from Sunday to Tuesday. Many parts of the state received light to moderate showers.
Since Friday evening, Nadaun has recorded the highest rainfall at 58.6 mm, followed by Joggindernagar with 45 mm and Jatton Barrage with 44.2 mm. Nagrota Suriyan received 39.2 mm, Kangra 35.7 mm, Naina Devi 34.8 mm, Paonta Sahib 33 mm, Dhaulakuan 32 mm, Ghaghas 26 mm, Bhattiyat 22.2 mm and Neri 20.5 mm.
Thunderstorms hit Kangra, Jor, Murari Devi and Palampur. Winds of 37–54 kmph were reported in Kukumseri, Seobagh and Bajaura, the MeT office said.
Since the monsoon began on June 20, at least 151 people have died in rain-related incidents in Himachal Pradesh and 37 are still missing, according to the SEOC. The state has suffered losses worth ₹2,326 crore so far.
As many as 172 power transformers and 133 water supply schemes are disrupted. The state has also seen 75 flash floods, 39 cloudbursts and 74 major landslides this monsoon.
