The Himachal Pradesh Police convened a high-level meeting on Saturday at the Police Headquarters to discuss "Cyber Swachhta Ver.01," a pilot initiative aimed at identifying, tracking, and eliminating cyber perpetrators operating within the state.
According to an official statement from the Director General of Police (DGP) of Himachal Pradesh, the project is designed to enhance cyber security measures and strengthen law enforcement capabilities in tackling cybercrime.
In the initial phase, the project will focus on the districts of Bilaspur and Baddi, with detailed action plans formulated and reviewed during the meeting. Authorities examined prevailing cyber trends in these regions, analysing data and identifying patterns to better combat digital threats.
The initiative is expected to improve coordination among law enforcement agencies and enhance cyber investigation skills, ultimately contributing to a safer cyberspace for citizens of Himachal Pradesh.
The meeting was chaired by Atul Verma, DGP of Himachal Pradesh, and was attended by senior officials, including AK Yadav, IPS, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP); Mohit Chawla, IPS, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Cyber Crime; Rohit Malpani, IPS, Commanding Officer of the 1st HPAP Battalion, Junga; and Geetanjli Thakur, HPS, ANC PHQ, along with other cybercrime specialists.
During the discussions, AK Yadav, who recently returned from a central deputation, shared his insights and experiences from the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (i4C) under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India. His expertise provided valuable inputs on strengthening cyber law enforcement efforts within the state.
The project marks a proactive step by the State Cybercrime Unit in ensuring a robust cybersecurity framework and enhancing the state's capacity to counter digital threats.
