On Monday, four people were killed and nearly 60 were injured in the Ghatkopar area of Mumbai when an iron hoarding collapsed during rain and gusty wind, according to civic officials. Nearly 60 people have been rescued from under the debris and rescue operations are still underway.

They said, "Some people are feared trapped under the hoarding, and a search and rescue operation is underway." Reports suggest nearly 100 people are still trapped under the collapsed structure.

The incident occurred at the Police Ground petrol pump along the Eastern Express Highway in Pantnagar.

A 120-foot tall illegal billboard fell on a petrol pump at the Cheddanagar Junction in the Ghatkopar area, killing at least four persons and injuring 59 others, even as a search and rescue operation is going on.

The permissible height of the hoarding is 40x40. However, reports suggest that the hoarding that collapsed was 120x120 feet tall, making it 'illegal.'

In another rain-related incident, an under-construction metal parking tower collapsed on the road amid gusty wind in the Wadala area, injuring three persons and damaging vehicles.

Police, Mumbai Fire Brigade and other agencies have been mobilised, the official said.
