The Directorate of Health Services Kashmir has introduced a "pony ambulance" service to provide critical healthcare to Amarnath pilgrims during their journey.
Launched by Dr. Mushtaq Ahmad Rather, Director of Health Services Kashmir, under the guidance of Dr. Syed Abid Rashid Shah, Secretary of Health and Medical Education, the service has been well-received by the pilgrims.
The pony ambulance is a horse-mounted unit equipped with medical supplies and oxygen cylinders. It accompanies pilgrims on the Baltal and Pahalgam routes and offers a swift medical response to any health issues.
Trained personnel operate the Pony Ambulance, significantly reducing morbidity and mortality rates among pilgrims.
Dr Syed Abid Rashid Shah praised the initiative, stating, "We are committed to ensuring the well-being of Shri Amarnath Ji Yatris.
