Following a series of terror attacks in the Kashmir Valley, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has directed security forces to intensify operations against terrorism and its supporting ecosystem in the region.
His remarks came in response to four back-to-back terror attacks that have recently rocked the valley.
In the past week alone, a total of 12 individuals—including security personnel, construction workers, army porters, and civilians—have lost their lives, with nine others injured.
During a crucial security meeting at the Raj Bhawan in Srinagar, LG Sinha urged force commanders to develop a new strategy to address emerging threats, particularly those targeting vital infrastructure projects and migrant workers.
The meeting was attended by top officials, including Jammu and Kashmir’s Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat, Northern Army Commander M.V. Suchindera Kumar, General Officer Commanding of the Srinagar-based 15 Corps Lieutenant General Prashant Srivastava, and other high-ranking officers from the police, army, and intelligence agencies.
Sinha stressed the need for collective action against the terror network, stating, “The uprooting of the terror network in Kashmir is a must for lasting peace.
The Over Ground Worker (OGW) network of terror outfits must be addressed immediately.”
The Lieutenant Governor also requested detailed information from army officers regarding successful infiltration attempts this year and the number of foreign terrorists currently active in the region. He called for heightened vigilance along the Line of Control (LoC) and International Border (IB) to prevent potential infiltration ahead of the snowfall.
In addition, Sinha directed officials to target the terror network while ensuring that no innocent civilians are harmed. He emphasised the need to identify and penalise those involved in the recent Gagangeer attack. Discussions also included enhancing security for important developmental projects, refining the necessary measures to protect them.
The recent surge in terror attacks has raised concerns among security agencies. Prior to these incidents, the Kashmir Valley had experienced a relatively calm period. However, with the resurgence of attacks, the valley has once again become the focal point of terror activities in Jammu and Kashmir.
