Jay Shah, the Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), has been blessed with a baby boy.
The joyous news was shared by IPL Chairman Arun Dhumal during his address at the IPL 2025 mega auction held in Saudi Arabia on Sunday, November 24. Dhumal extended warm congratulations to Shah, calling him “India’s off-field captain” as the auction proceedings began.
This happy development comes at a significant time for Shah, who is set to assume the role of International Cricket Council (ICC) Chairman in December. His election to this esteemed position earlier this year was a landmark moment, as he succeeded New Zealand's Greg Barclay.
Shah’s elevation to this global cricketing role has been hailed as a reflection of India’s growing influence in international cricket governance.
Interestingly, India’s cricketing sphere has been filled with personal milestones recently. Team India’s captain, Rohit Sharma, also welcomed his second child, a son, earlier this month. This led to Sharma missing the opening Test match of the ongoing series against Australia in Perth.
As Shah prepares to transition to his new global role, discussions within the BCCI have started regarding his successor as the board’s secretary. Speculation has pointed towards Rohan Jaitley, President of the Delhi and District Cricket Association, as a potential candidate.
However, official sources have clarified that no decision has been finalised yet. The BCCI is expected to announce its choice in due course, keeping in mind the need for continuity and strong leadership in Indian cricket administration.
