BJP MP from Mandi, Kangana Ranaut has kicked up a fresh political controversy in Himachal Pradesh.
This time over her accusation that the Himachal Pradesh government is diverting loans to former Congress President, Sonia Gandhi, which has invited sharp criticism from Congress circles in the state, who termed her allegation as absurd.
“It is unfortunate that an MP is so irresponsible in her remarks. I condemn it strongly. The funds that come to the state for development purposes through different channels have a proper procedure for their use,” said State Congress President, Pratibha Singh in her reaction.
Pratibha Singh said since the time Kangana became a candidate for Lok Sabha polls in Mandi, she had been raking up issues, which don’t make any sense. “That’s why people have stopped taking her remarks non-seriously,” she said.
Public Works Minister, Vikramaditya Singh questioned the BJP MP about the basis of such an accusation.
“It does not behove an MP to speak baselessly like this. The money meant for development purposes is utilised through a laid down procedure and everything is audited. The MP’s allegation that this development money is going to national Congress leader Sonia Gandhi is defamatory. I challenge her to produce the documents in this regard within a week. If she fails to produce documents and does not seek an apology from Sonia Gandhi, we will file a criminal deflation suit against her,” Singh said.
Speaking at a membership drive in a village in the state on Sunday, Kangana Ranaut had alleged that the Himachal Pradesh government takes loans and then diverts them to Sonia Gandhi, making the state coffers empty.
Alleging mismanagement of disaster funds by the Congress government in Himachal Pradesh, Ranaut had alleged that the funds given for disaster relief should go to the CM Relief Fund, but they are going to ‘Sonia Relief Fund’ in Himachal Pradesh.
Taking a dig further she mentioned that disasters and the Congress government had taken the state decades back in development and had urged the people to root out the present government. She had attacked the Sukhu government for delayed salaries, and pensions, going back on the promise of free electricity units and instead withdrawing the free units already being given to the consumers, and water bills in villages and had said it was enough to convey the financial mismanagement of the Present Congress government in HP.
Kangana had targeted PWD minister Vikramaditya Singh also and had said people were tired of potholes in roads across the state, but the Minister had not addressed the issue.
