Kerala is leading the nation in the installation of indigenously developed 4G towers. Of the 5,859 towers planned, 5,511 have already been installed. Only 348 towers remain to be completed. The state is set to have its entire network up and running by March 31.
Alappuzha district is the frontrunner, with 312 out of 321 towers already operational. Only nine towers are still pending there. Thrissur is also performing well, with 480 out of 491 towers installed.
However, some districts still have a few towers to complete. Kannur has 88 towers left to be installed, while 60 towers remain in Thiruvananthapuram. Kollam and Ernakulam each have 39 towers pending, while the remaining districts have fewer than 30 left to complete.

Nationwide, the target is to install 1 lakh 4G towers by March 31, with 80,000 already completed across the country. Kerala is ahead in meeting its goals, demonstrating significant progress in 4G tower installation.
BSNL has reported that call connectivity issues have been decreasing as more 4G towers are installed. The problems were mostly due to server incompatibility with the 4G technology developed by Tata Consultancy Services (TCS). Initially, 4G signals were routed through Nokia servers, which were intended for 3G services.
The issue has been addressed. The Nokia servers have been replaced with TCS servers, and one has been set up in Kochi. This new server is expected to be fully operational by early March. Data services under the 4G network are already showing good results.
