Twenty-seven people were injured after a KSRTC Swift bus crashed into an iron railing of an under-construction underpass on the National Highway in Cherthala early on Tuesday. All the injured were passengers on the bus.
The incident happened around 5 am. An officer at the Cherthala Police Station confirmed that the bus, which was travelling from Coimbatore to Thiruvananthapuram, lost control and rammed into the railing.
Local residents and police immediately launched a rescue operation. All those injured were taken to Cherthala Taluk Hospital, and police confirmed that none of their injuries were serious.
