LG Manoj Sinha on Monday flagged off the first batch of pilgrims for the Holy Budha Amarnath Yatra from the Bhagwati Nagar Jammu base camp early in the morning. The Lieutenant Governor extended his wishes to all the devotees for a safe and spiritually fulfilling yatra.
Sinha said, “The sacred journey to the home of Mahadev is an enlightening experience. I firmly believe that this pilgrimage is the greatest alchemy and unveils the secrets of life before the devotees.”
He appreciated the meticulous work done by Baba Amarnath and Budha Amarnath Yatri Niwas, the Tourism Department, the district administration, and other stakeholders, including the charity organisations serving langar.
Comprehensive security and other arrangements have been made for the annual pilgrimage and Budha Amarnath Mela.
After flagging off the Yatra, LG Sinha said, “In the first batch, more than 1,000 pilgrims from across the country set off for the holy yatra of Shri Budha Amarnath Ji.”
Till Sunday, more than 3.77 lakh devotees have performed Darshan and paid their respects at the holy cave shrine of Amarnath ji.
He said he is hopeful that devotees from across the country will also arrive to pay their obeisance at the Shri Budha Amarnath shrine and pray to the lord for the peace and prosperity of Jammu and Kashmir and the nation.
Eminent spiritual leaders, heads of religious organisations, public representatives, senior officers of civil administration, police, security forces, prominent citizens, and devotees in large numbers were present at the Flag-off ceremony.
